Welcome to the Tomasiak laboratory. We use cryo-EM and functional techniques to understand how transporters are regulated and misregulated in cellular stress responses. This regulation impacts a range of biological processes including metabolic rewiring in cancer, drug resistance/tolerance, and distribution of key ions and hormones. We focus on unusual regulatory elements such as intrinsically disordered regions or chaperones that have the potential to highlight new druggable surfaces and motifs that may be used to mitigate human disease.
